Dropped object modeling

Dropped object trajectory assessment within an offshore wind farm

Parkwind NV operates 3 offshore windfarms in the Belgian concession zone in the North Sea, providing around 550 MW of green energy to the Belgian market.

Parkwind wants to assess the risk of accidentally dropping objects in the North Sea when executing O&M tasks at the wind farms.

To be able to assess the probability that an object is present in a certain area around the drop point, Fluves calculated the trajectory of different types of objects in the water and on the sea bottom.
